Community
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”
– 1 Peter 4:10-11
Vacation Bible School
St. Paul’s Evangelical Church partners with Moniteau Advent Evangelical Church and Grace United Methodist Church each year to host a Jamestown Community Bible School. It is for children 4 years of through those who have completed the fifth grade.
“2025 Road Trip VBS” is scheduled to be held at St. Paul’s/Grace UMC, Monday-Thursday, July 14-17, from 6:30-8-55 pm each evening. Children are invited to learn how God is with us wherever we go.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9
Middle School Youth Group
The Jamestown Middle School Youth meet at the Jamestown Assembly of God Church each Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm during the school year. Anyone in grades sixth through eighth are welcome to attend. Games are played, supper is served, songs are sung, and a devotion is given each week.
Jamestown Community Youth Group (JCYG)
JCYG was expanded during Pastor Bish’s pastorate from the youth group at St. Paul’s to a community gathering of youth in grades 9-12. They meet on Wednesday nights during the school year and are currently led by Ben Marshall and Seth Rohrbach (both members of St. Paul’s church). JCYG consists of fellowship, food, and a discussion-based bible study where a different topic or book of the Bible is discussed each semester.
Young Christians Weekend
Young Christians Weekend (YCW) is a gathering of thousands of youths from surrounding states in Branson, MO in early April. The event is held at Silver Dollar City theme park and includes breakout sessions, live music, and programs with well-known singers/bands and powerful speakers. While youth from Jamestown have been attending this event for many years, JCYG and St. Paul’s church have led the effort since 2024. YCW is done in conjunction with the high school and middle school youth groups and the goal is to make it a yearly tradition.
Mission Trips
Yearly mission trips are an offshoot of JCYG and have been a much-anticipated activity for our youth since 2011. Most mission trips have been through an organization called Group Mission Trips where youth paint houses and build decks (along with various other construction projects) for less fortunate individuals. Group Mission Trips are held during the summer all over the Midwest with the JCYG attending camps in IL, IN, WI, TN, IA, and WV. While the week is centered around work, the primary purpose is for the youth to create and cultivate a relation with Christ. Powerful worship services and thought-provoking devotions assist in making the week a life-changing experience for all that attend. The current plan is to attend a Group Mission Trip every other year while in the off years do local mission work in our community or at Camp Aurora.
Jamestown Ministerial Alliance
St. Paul’s Evangelical Church is a member of the local Jamestown Ministerial Alliance along with six other local churches. Each church is represented by a pastor and one church member. This organization provides three community church services each year—Easter Sunrise, Labor Day (held at the Lion’s Club Shelter House and in conjunction with the town’s annual weekend Labor Day Celebration), and Thanksgiving. Offerings taken at Easter and Thanksgiving are used to help community members and travelers with unexpected needs and to provide appreciation meals for community teachers and volunteers. St. Paul’s current representative on the Alliance is Debi Baumert.
