“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

– Matthew 27:52-53

St. Paul’s Church Cemetery of Jamestown

The original cemetery was located behind and to the north of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown. The church supplied financial support until a special cemetery fund was established in January 1970. By that time more land had been acquired to expand the cemetery to the north and northwest. There are more than 400 burials, and a listing of them can be found on the website moniteau.net.

The cemetery was officially incorporated October 14, 1970 with the name St. Paul’s Church Cemetery of Jamestown. The papers were signed by Truman Gentzsch, Vice-President and Hudson Clay, Secretary-Treasurer. The first annual meeting was held January 25, 1970. The cemetery is managed by a four-person board and funds are raised by a special offering each year at the church and from private donations.
