History

“…and on this rock I will build my church….”

Matthew 16: 18

St. Paul’s Evangelical Church (Evangelical St. Paul’s Gemeinde) was founded on February 4, 1863, with the present church building in Jamestown being erected in 1920. In 1875, St. Paul’s united with the Evangelical Synod of North America, which united with the Reformed church to become The Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1934. The church then united with the Congregational Christian Churches and formed the United Church of Christ in 1957. In 2006, the historical name of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church was restored when it became a non-denominational church and a member of the Evangelical Association of Reformed and Congregational Christian Churches.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Church is a sister church of Moniteau Evangelical Advent Church. Even though they are independent churches, they share the same pastor and several activities like Men’s Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, and Middle/High School Youth Groups. Sunday Morning Worship is at 9:00 am, and Bible Fellowship is at 10:30 am.
